The SGA is located at the Fairfax Building. The building is across the parking lot from the main campus on the second floor.

Article 1: Election Code

Article II: Meetings

Section 1. Meeting Time and Place
  1. The SGA shall meet bimonthly during the Fall and Spring semesters on day, time, and location decided by the Senate.

  2. Committees will meet at time agreed upon by committee members.

  3. Special meetings, including those called during the summer session, may be called by the President or Vice- President of the SGA with 24 hours notice to the members.

Article III: Officers

Section 1. Officers
  1. The executive Branch shall consist of:

    1. President

    2. Vice-President

    3. Secretary

    4. Treasurer

  2. The Senate shall consist of the following, not to exceed l% of student enrollment:

    1. Two Senators from each of the Colleges at Baton Rouge Community College

    2. Two at-large senators

Section 2. Compensation of Executive Officers
  1. The President of SGA is to receive a stipend each Fall and Spring semester that he/she holds the position, equal to the full amount of BRCC tuition.

  2. The Vice-President of SGA is to receive a stipend each Fall and Spring semester that he/she holds the position, equal to three-fourths (3/4) the amount of full tuition.

  3. The Treasurer and Secretary of SGA are both to receive a stipend each Fall and Spring semester that he/she holds that position equal to one-half (1/2) the amount of full tuition.

*Stipends for executive officers should be issued during the first week of the semester, and should not exceed 1O% of the total budget for the current semester. Should an executive officer fail to perform his/her duties and/or resigns from his/her position, they will be responsible for a full reimbursement to the SGA of the awarded stipend for the semester in question. Section 3. Vacancy of Officers
  1. The President of the SGA, with two-thirds approval of the Senate, has the power to appoint qualified students to the SGA. Appointed members will serve until the next campus election is held.

  2. Should the office of President become vacant, the vice president will serve as president until the next scheduled election.

Article V. Committees

Section 1. Committee Meetings
  1. All standing and special committees shall meet at least four times per semester.

  2. Each committee will establish a Chair and Co-chair during its first meeting of the fall semester.

  3. The Co-Chair shall serve as the secretary of the committee and shall take the minutes at the meetings.

Section 2. Committee Structure The following committees will be established and meet in accordance with Article V, Section I of the by-laws:
  1. Student Life (safety issues, organizational support, social)

  2. Academic Affairs (issues that relate to student's academics)

  3. Internal Affairs (issues that involve only the SGA personnel, by-laws, etc.)

Article VI: Amendments and Authority

Section 1. Amending the By-Laws
  1. The by-laws of the Student Government Association can be amended by a two- thirds majority vote of the Senate.

  2. Roberts Rules of Order will preside over matters not specifically addressed in the by- laws and the constitution.
